New Chapter

Have you ever felt stuck in a moment? Stuck in a job? Stuck in an unhealthy relationship? Maybe stuck in a rut, or tough season that you can’t seem to break free of? At one time or another each of us have felt the same way. Thankfully the story of your life is not a snapshot, but rather a movie with another scene on the horizon. It is possible to hope again, dream again and see your life move forward.

Isaiah 43:18-19 is one of God’s 5-star promises for you and me. It’s an encouraging reminder that when everything in our world feels stalled we can look to him with expectation…

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

One of the meanings of the word, consider mentioned above is, to think about and be drawn toward. In other words, when we allow ourselves to drift towards yesterday and what might seem to be “the good ol’ days” we get stuck. Making a change from the familiar to the new can be daunting if we’ve lived our lives in loop mode for a long time. If you have ever seen the TV show, Hoarders you know what I’m talking about. The key to receiving the new is letting go of the old – old attitudes, mindsets, habits, thoughts, excuses, the “we’ve-never-done-it-that-way-before” and on and on it goes.

The Lord is reminding us that if we’ll let go of the old, there is something brand new up ahead and it’s better than we can even imagine!

  • A new season
  • New, unexpected provision
  • New breakthroughs
  • New experiences
  • A new chapter in the book written of your life

Think about the word, new. We love the smell of a new car. Or, a new baby that brings so much joy to a family. A new fishing rod, a new handbag, new clothes, or how about a new pair of shoes? Not one time have I gone to the meat counter of our local grocery store and asked for the oldest piece of fish they have.

Because God has something new in store for our lives, it simply means we have to decide to let go of that ball and chain called old and position ourselves to receive the new, because new is a whole lot better!
