Salvation in the Prison

I couldn’t help but hear the eerie sound of heavy gates slamming into place and locking us in with convicted inmates for the next hour and a half.  Each time we go into the prisons I am reminded that God has a plan of redemption for all of us – even when we have blown it or failed miserably.  His love and grace are limitless and extend beyond the prison walls, giving each one that second chance again and again.  As the team preached Jesus and his love for humanity, the presence of the Holy Spirit filled the courtyard.  Hearts began to soften and tears began to flow down the faces of these men.  75 out of 90 inmates committed their lives to the Lord on that cold rainy day in the mountains of Lesotho.

I am convinced that something significant happens when we get out of our comfort zones and allow God to work through us.  Whether its sharing Jesus in the mountain region of Lesotho, our workplace, the nursing home or hospital in our own city, or the lonely person down the street.  Mark 16:15 tells us to… “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”  Normally we read this verse as it relates to missions – but, what if the verse is really speaking more about a lifestyle?  The verse could be read this way… “Go, and as you are going into all the world – preach the gospel”.  Can I encourage you today to be a person that lives their life on GO?!!
